I’m Alec. I’m splitting my time between New York and Miami. Up until this year, my wife Marcie and I had never really lived outside of a few square blocks of NYC for 15 years. We have two young children that love to jump on my Zoom calls with me, Jayden and Riley... and we also have an Australian Labradoodle, Rio, who just celebrated his 5th birthday. Marc and I are brothers (although it’s hard to tell given our personalities), Jesse and I worked together previously at my last company, TechDay, and Moisey, Ben, Mitch and I worked together to start DigitalOcean. I love cars, tennis, and buying random kitchen gadgets. Over my career I’ve been lucky enough to do a ton of cool stuff (I’ll share 3 now and more at future team dinners): I was on the tourism board of directors for the country of Bermuda, I served as a diplomatic advisor to the Estonian Government for the creation of their e-residency program, and I’ve been invited to ring the opening bell of the Nasdaq 3 times.
Hello! I'm Mitch. I'm originally from Hauppauge, NY on Long Island and met my wife, Lynne, at a Halloween party in NYC. I spent 8 years living downtown and on the upper east side in NYC before moving to Miami at the end of 2020. I have two beautiful kids, a son, and a daughter. Cam is 3.5 years old and loves playing with his monster trucks. Liv is 7 months old and loves eating and sleeping. :) Needless to say, my family is my life and my first priority. Everything after family and health is a far second and to me, the icing on the cake. My passion is building businesses from the ground up and taking an idea or concept and bringing it to life. I was teaching myself how to code and build websites starting at the age of 13 and I haven't stopped creating since. I love all things boating and sports, I live a very active lifestyle and enjoy watching and playing basketball, football, golf, tennis, pickleball, ping pong, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and skiing. I'm up to play and compete in almost anything - just ask.
Hi I’m Jesse, I live in Brooklyn with my dog Ava. I grew up 90 miles away, just outside of Hartford, CT (which is a place I don’t advise anyone visit). I attended Drexel University In Philly and spent 5 years there and then another 3 in Los Angeles before moving to New York about 8 years ago. I’m almost at the point of having lived longer in cities than the suburbs where I was forced to grow up so I’m pretty happy about that. I studied Digital Media at Drexel and have been designing and developing websites since 18. My coding specialty is in the frontend but I also picked up backend coding when I ran an app development agency here In NY. However, my true passion is designing. I (used) to draw growing up, now when I have free time I do that digitally on random design projects that I’ll sometimes post to Dribbble. Other than that my interests are pretty generic: sports, bars, tv, etc. If there’s anything you’d like to know more about just ask!
Hey, I’m Marc – not a bot! I’m originally from the swamps of South Florida (publicly known as Palm Beach County). I know it’s quite concerning when someone references the location “F-Bomb," but rest assured I’ve never written a Craigslist missed connection article nor have I ever been characterized as “Florida man” – although some of those stories are hilarious.
I studied at Emory for college and moved to New York back in 2013 where I followed in the footsteps of every other recent college graduate and moved into Murray Hill. I’m very analytical and enjoy using numbers to prove points. I also enjoy watching sports, not to be confused with playing sports, and grew up a big Dolphins fan – as Colonel Kurtz would say, "The horror the horror!" I now reside in the Upper East Side and am fortunate to live within a two-block radius of every fast-food restaurant imaginable. I’m quite sure everyone that hates on fast-food is lying to themselves – have you had a chick-fil-a sandwich!? I have a ridiculous memory when it comes to completely useless facts and all things Seinfeld.
I’m really excited to build thousands of homes using other people’s hands. FYI there’s a Dippin’ Dots by the office! Let’s see what lasts longer, this bio or that retail location…
I am Benjie, southern born and raised Chicago where I now reside after having lived in Indiana, Spain, California, Florida, Turkey, and England. When I am not working you will find me in my garden, on my bike, working on restoring my 150- year old house, cooking, or traveling.
I have four incredible godkids whom I love to visit and two bossy cats who chide me after every trip I take.
I have been lucky enough to have had a pretty adventurous life from flying C-130s for USAF Special Operations to solo cycling across the US and Spain, to hiking the Inca trail, and more. After the Air Force, I was a product manager at GE, had an incredible six years working in strategy and mobile communications at McKinsey, launched a series of real estate focused companies, one of which I sold to Compass in 2018 where I have been ever since as the lead of a team of 200+ sales managers who managed over 25,000 agents.
Hi, I’m Christian, I’m an architect and have been working in New York City for Welcome since October 2020. I moved from Melbourne, AUS, to NY in 2016 and have been loving the journey so far.
I grew up on the sunny West-coast of Australia, in a city called Perth. There I completed my education, through to a Master of Architecture at The University of Western Australia. That also included a 6-month studio abroad where I lived in Hangzhou, China. As a side note, I went to the same high school as the late Heath Ledger! ‘
My family consists of my Mum, Dad, and younger brother, all of whom are still in Australia. My last name, is fairly unique in Australia, but not as much in the States, and that is owed to my Grandad who grew up in the North of Spain. Unfortunately, for any potential Miami visits, my Spanish is no good, to the disappointment of many Spanish speakers who see my name. I do, however, speak basic Chinese Mandarin, and even a little Indonesian.
I’m a real enthusiast for all things design, and have a passion for environmentally sustainable approaches to architecture. Outside of that, I love scuba diving, bodyboarding, mountain biking, tennis, space & physics, and most music, namely by a band named Tame Impala. Finally, I’m always on the lookout for a good flat white, or a place for an ice-cold beer, so all suggestions are welcome!
Hi, I’m Gui! I live in Rio de Janeiro🇧🇷 and I grew up between here and the US🇺🇸. I graduated from NYUin 2019 and I've been working my dream job at Welcome ever since (even before it was known as Welcome). I am super excited about this company and working with all of you to get these homes built. When I’m not working on our customers’ dream homes I am either at the beach or watching reruns on HGTV. I can speak Portuguese & French fluently and enough German & Spanish to get by. Slack me your favorite home improvement show or if you speak any of these languages, say hi! 🏼
Hope to meet everyone in New York / Miami soon!
Hi I’m Khamini! I'm a Guyanese immigrant, raised in Queens, and now live in central New Jersey with my husband Matthew. We are both Syracuse University alums and love rooting for the Orange . I enjoy traveling, experiencing new cuisines, and then emulating those flavors in my kitchen. I even worked as a private chef part time so I could enhance my culinary skills and share my food with more people. My civil engineering career and love for all things construction has rewarded me many opportunities to see designs come to life while working to integrate those structures into their built environment.
I was born and raised in Vermont and currently live in Middlebury, on a 20-acre wooded lot. I am an only child, my parents said they got the perfect child the first time so no need for anymore! I graduated Vergennes Union High School in 2001 and went to Vermont Tech to study architecture. I graduated with an Associate’s degree in Architectural Engineering in 2005 and stayed an extra year to get a Bachelors in Business. I’ve been married to my wife Kristen for 10 years. We have three children, Skylee 14, Taylen 10 and Rhylen 9. All active dirt bike riders and outdoor kids. I like to fish, woodwork and build Legos with the kids, something the whole family likes to do.
I’m Jose, I’m from Mérida, Yucatán which is a little city near Cancún in México. I studied mechatronics engineering but decided to specialize in software/coding and have been working on that since I finished college. I love coffee and since the start of the pandemic I have watched a lot of tutorials on Youtube of how to make pour-over coffee and I now have a full coffee setup in my house, so if you ever come to Mérida make sure to reach out and I will love to make you some coffee. I played soccer through high school and college and liked it quite a bit, but right now I don’t play as much but I do Crossfit as my “sport” of choice. I also enjoy watching movies/TV shows and playing video games, some recent good ones have been Dark, Ted Lasso, and Wandavision.
Hi!, I'm Eduardo, I'm from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico (Yep, from the same place where the famous Mayan pyramids are from). I like to scuba dive in the cenotes near the city, although I don't do it as much as before. I spend most of my time with my wife Adriana and our very active border collie Wanda. I like to read thriller books (Nordic noir genre), science fiction and history books, especially about the first and second world war. I'm a person of few words and very bad at starting conversations but say to me on slack!
Hi! I'm Eugene. I'm from Ukraine, but I spent around 7 years in other parts of ex-soviet space. There were Moscow, Russia; Belarus (ex-soviet country); and Sevastopol, a major port on the Black Sea, Crimea (ex Ukrainian territory and now it's part of Russia). Now I returned to my hometown, Dnepr city, and live here with my wife, 7 years old daughter, 2 dogs, and 2 cats :)
I have an architectural degree and some years of architectural practice, I worked on architectural projects of different scales: urban development, multistorey living apartment houses, public and living interior spaces. When the 2008 crisis came it knocked down the architectural industry here nearly totally. And this fact forced me to shift into other creative fields: 3d, graphical designs, animation, video editing. But no matter how far I went from architecture I always return to it in different ways: architectural illustration agencies, educational and entertaining projects, and so on.
Another unchanging axis of my experience has always been 3d graphics. No matter what project I'm working on, whether its architecture or anything else it nearly always involves 3d graphics. And here I am doing 3d graphics for innovative architectural and construction company :) I love 3d graphics so much. No matter what I'm doing in 3d it always forces me to dive deeper into how physics works, how light works, etc. This is a never-ending educational process. And there are a lot of opportunities when you have design and 3d skills. Anyone can participate in NASA technical competitions today. We live in wonderful times I believe. For example, with a friend of mine, an architect, we did a concept of flying cities based on aerogel material, for a competition devoted to future technologies.
When work allows I always have some hobbies, that change over time. I was running a small nonprofit inline skates course for kids back in the days so anyone could learn how to skate. Then I fell in love with ethnic percussions and loved to spent summer vacations on sea shore playing drums with performing fire theaters. This passion led me to vocal improvisation theatre in Kyiv, Ukraine. We did abstract vocal improvisations with body plastics. At the moment I passionate more about technicals stuff. Signal transmission over distance was always dark magic for me so I assembled an FPV quadcopter and learning now all this signal transmission stuff and the art of piloting manual drones.
My favorite types of tasks are those with unobvious solutions. Those that involve researches. For example: to come up with an alternative way of lifting cargoes without using existing solutions.
I love science books. "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" by Oliver Sacks one of my favorite.
"Design for the Real World" by Victor Papanek is the best book about design ethics in my opinion.
And I love science fiction a lot. There a lot of titles. The shortest way I can describe - there is a joke that there are two types of sci-fi fans: a) Alien fans and b) Star Wars. And allegedly it isn't possible to be on both sides. I'm an Alien fan. :) Overall I like the topic of a man against an unknown.
Hope to meet all of you guys in person someday! Cheers!
Hi, I’m Maggie! I was born and raised in NYC. I went to college in Baltimore and while I loved it, I always knew I’d end up back in New York. I have two siblings and the cutest niece and nephew around. I’m extremely passionate about animal rescue. I’ve volunteered at animal shelters on and off throughout and after college. I’ve fostered one dog and was really close to becoming a foster fail, but went with an open adoption instead ;) which will allow me to foster again in the future - something I can’t wait to do!
Hi, I’m Michael. I was born and raised in Connecticut with two older sisters and one younger brother. I currently live in NYC, not too far from the office, with two roommates. I went to the University of Georgia (the best college football team that doesn’t win championships). I majored in Cognitive Science, which is when I first started to code. I enjoy playing sports and games that range from pickup basketball to chess. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling and reading.
Hi, I’m Victoria! I currently live in Hoboken and try to escape to the beach as often as possible. I grew up on the beach in NJ and love to spend all of my free time near the water. I graduated from Rutgers University and developed a passion for real estate. I look forward to continuing my career at Welcome Homes!
Hello everyone, my name is Calvin. I was born and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and currently living out in Wood-Ridge, NJ with my wife Connie and puppy Chippy. Before I became a Software Engineer, I worked as a barista where I grew my love for coffee and it is still one of my dreams to own my own coffee-shop. When I'm not at work, I love to spend my time with my wife and pup, watching shows, playing video games, listening to music, and dreaming about traveling again. When we meet, you'll soon find out that I know way too much about nothing and am always down to have a conversation, so feel free to Slack me :D
Hello, I’m Rebecca! I grew up in Pennsylvania, went to law school in Virginia, and chose New York City as home. My husband, Richard, and I met while working for a residential builder and went on to do our own real estate development projects. We have three children—Madeleine, Oliver, and Arthur—and spend most weekends in Central Park or at the Met. I love to read and talk about books, eat Lebanese food, and send snail mail to friends and family.
Hi, I'm Douha (pronounced dough-ha)! I was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from NJIT. I married my college sweetheart in 2018 and moved across the country to San Francisco, California. Although we loved and enjoyed SF, the foggy weather didn’t cut it for us and we decided to move back to the east coast. I love traveling and experiencing new cultures and meeting new people along the way. I have a bossy cat that thinks that I live in her home, not the other way around, but I love her to pieces!
Hey, I’m Gretchen! I’m from Lockport, NY - a city just north of Buffalo. I graduated from Loyola University of Maryland in 2019 and moved to NYC right after graduation. As a true Buffalo girl, winter is my favorite season and I love to spend my winters skiing and my summers at the lake. You can catch me on Sundays cheering on the Bills - finally! I typically have a coffee in hand and am always looking for cafe recommendations.
Hi everyone, I’m Ashley! I was born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn; like many 20 somethings, I had the itch to move to the city after college and 13 years later I’m back in Brooklyn!
My family has always been in the restaurant business, my two younger sisters and I were always in the kitchen with my father and have the best memories of it. They currently own a wood-fired pizza concept with three locations (@forninopizza) so you could say I take my pizza seriously but can appreciate a good $1 slice.
I went to college for Fashion Merchandising and Elementary Education, two degrees I indirectly use often depending on the situation…
Hobbies include cooking (and challenging myself not to set the smoke alarm off), volunteering locally, discovering Prospect Park, trying to beat my best Peloton output, and escaping to the beach whenever possible.
Hi, my name is Jeff and I'm a proud father of an 11 year old son and 6 year old daughter and have been married to my wife Ofeer, for 13 years. My wife and I both grew up in the same small town of Ringwood, NJ and still live in that same small town on a small lake. Our kids keep us busy with their activities, but when I'm not working or coaching them, I enjoy playing ice hockey and skiing, so winter is no problem for me!
"I’m Meaghan - I come from a couple of hippies who added extra letters to my name just for fun. I’m a born and raised New Yorker… although if you ever got your hands on my birth certificate you’d learn that I’m actually from South Florida. I’ve honestly only been here for 5 years but New York has been so good to me, I’ll likely never live anywhere else. If they ever forced me to leave they’d have to drag me out, kicking and screaming, and even then they couldn’t get me any further than Westchester.
I’m currently studying ASL with the hope of becoming a certified interpreter so catch me on the side of the stage at your favorite musicians’ concert in a year or so. And if you ever come across someone who only communicates with ASL, FaceTime me!
If you have a good book, thrift store or know somewhere I can get a gooood meal you won’t have any trouble winning me over so start up a chat!"
Hi, I'm Joey. I recently moved to Hoboken, NJ with my wife Aly and our newborn son, Jordan (born December 2021!). I was born and raised in Metuchen, NJ, and like a typical Jersey boy, love summers at Jersey shore. I've spent the past 10 years in New York - I attended Cornell University, then lived and worked in NYC for a variety of tech and consulting companies. My typical fun fact is that I met my wife studying abroad in Prague. However, my most recent fun fact is that I will be on Family Feud! My parents, two brothers, and I taped an episode in July, which will be airing this May. No spoilers, but Steve Harvey and I had a real bond.
Hello! My name is Justin and I live in NYC with my wife Jenny and dog Nellie. I'm a technical and creative person who went to college for Cinema Production, but ended up becoming a self-taught programmer instead. Ever since high school, I've been making music in bands with friends. Currently I'm playing guitar and piano in a band called Noxious Foxes and also have a synthesizer-based side project called Mzungu. I really enjoy riding my bike and do it as much as I can, most often while listening to audiobooks. I've been making hot sauces for my friends for years and in 2021 I started up a small hot sauce brand called Means Biz as an experiment. I also dabble in woodworking and have been increasingly getting into watching the NBA.
Hi, I’m Brandon! I was born and raised in Jersey, and have travelled a lot to Peru where most of my family lives (Yes, I’ve been to Machu Picchu!). I graduated from NJIT in 2018, and then worked in NYC for an engineering consulting firm for four years. I absolutely love to play volleyball. I played all throughout high school and recently in a few leagues with Big City Volleyball. I also like to mountain bike, hike, play guitar, shoot some pool, and bowl (my highest score is a 211….300 if you count Wii Sports).
Hello, I'm Kevin! Originally from NJ, I've been living in Brooklyn for the past four years. I attended the University of Connecticut where I ran cross country and track. Sports still play a role in my life as I enjoy running, playing basketball, and watching the Mets, Knicks and Vikings. In my free time I play guitar and drums and love to attend concerts. Some of my favorite artists are Bon Iver, Modest Mouse, and Big Thief (send me some music recommendations, I love discovering new artists!) Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Hello good people, my name is David Rauch, feel free to call me Dave. I was born and raised in Brooklyn with my parents and younger brother. After a few years in Harlem studying civil engineering at CCNY, I returned to Brooklyn and now reside in Crown Heights with my girlfriend. I live for live music and can often be found at a concert or festival. Sharing music with others brings me joy and I will never turn down an album recommendation, so please share! I love traveling and sports, you might also find me hiking, camping, skiing, or scuba diving.
Hi, I'm Annie ! I enjoy spending time outdoors, specifically near the ocean, which inspired my recent move from Brooklyn to the northern Jersey Shore. I am an active person who is typically on the move or working on projects around the house. I love to see live music, spend time with my large Italian family, and have recently taken up surfing! I am dog obsessed and very passionate about the rescue initiative. I am waiting, not so patiently, for the day I get to call one my own.
Hi, I'm Nasim (nuh-seem)! I was born and raised in Berkeley, CA, and made my way to the East Coast to study art history at NYU. I wasn't sure what I was going to do career-wise, but that just sounded cool at the time. I ended up working in the art world for five years before deciding I needed to switch things up. I wanted to formalize my education in marketing, and I also wanted to find more impactful work, figuring that I could still be part of the arts community in my personal life. I got my MBA at Duke, and I've been working in tech ever since. I love architecture and design, food (I do love cooking, but I eat out way too much and I usually plan my vacations around top restaurants I want to visit in different cities), standup comedy, live music (small venues and unknown bands mostly), true crime documentaries (especially anything to do with heists or large-scale cons), and learning random historical facts or stories. I'm part of the Young Collectors Council at the Guggenheim, NY -- reach out if you ever want to attend an art fair or see an exhibition in the city!
Greetings from across the pond! Or Dirty Jerz as they call it nowadays. My name is Lindsay, originally from North NJ but now hailing from Hoboken, NJ! A little bit about me, I played lacrosse at Ithaca College and also have a twin sister, you could say competition runs through my veins! I love cooking and baking for my friends as well as trying out fun new restaurants in the area! My favorite thing to make is a copycat recipe for Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding, which hopefully will make its WH debut soon. In my me-time I want nothing more than to snuggle up with my cat Pinot and a glass of pinot grigio to watch the latest documentaries. I love all things NJ and Hoboken, so if you ever make the treacherous journey over here I would love to show you around!
My legal name is Alexander, but I’ve been referred to as Alex by my co-workers, Mount by my friends, and Alessandro by my family. You’d never know from my last name, but my mother is first generation Italian American. My father’s side have been New Yorkers since before New York was New York. As long as I can remember I’ve been living back and forth from New York City and New Jersey- except for one summer where I lived in a hatchback with my cousin where we drove cross country. I love to travel, hike, draw, and build, I love all things architecture and automotive, and I enjoy dancing, singing, creative writing, gardening, cooking, and fine dining. My dog is my best friend, yet I know nothing about him- I rescued him two years ago and his age and breed are up to speculation but his heart is gold. I enjoy finding purpose in disregarded assets- from scrap metal to real estate- through this philosophy I can claim I own a boat and a Mercedes Benz for less than $2,000! I’ve had an interest in construction since high school, and worked my way up from being a plumber’s helper to a real estate investor in just under a decade. My education is in Construction Management from Pratt Institute, before that I spent two years in their architecture program. My favorite part of design is translating a vision to a tangible product, and I look forward to doing that here!
Hi! I was born in NYC, raised in the suburbs of Westchester, and mid-childhood spent a couple of years living in the Philippines (where my parents are from). I went to college in Atlanta (at Emory, coincidentally the same as Alec and Marc) where I studied Economics and Middle Eastern studies. Upon returning home, I tossed my degree out the window and learned to code, which has led to a wonderful career in tech. I currently live in Sunset Park, Brooklyn with my partner and our cat. Outside of work, my main hobbies are probably sleeping and eating!
I'm Sara. Born and raised in Seattle, lived in NYC for 10+ years and now residing in LA with my fiancé. I got my BA in 2.5 years from the University of Washington and received my executive education at Wharton.
My career before my career was a former US Olympic Karate team athlete and have competed all over the world. 14 broken noses and 4 surgeries, 2 knee surgeries, 5 major concussions, and a few other injuries later, it was time to channel my competitive nature into the workforce and that's where driving revenue to have that feeling of winning again became my outlet. Having 15+ years of revenue leadership experience across Zillow, Google, and Pacaso, the Welcome Homes founding team had not only a product market fit that was attractive in the prop tech space, but being able to work with Alec and the founding team sealed the deal for me in wanting to be a part building this company.
If I am not working, you'll find me working out - it's a bit of an addiction. Otherwise I am jumping all over notify for a reservation at the latest hot spot, hopping over to Paris or London for the weekend, or trying the latest health craze. I have a super fast paced nature, live for the feeling of simply accomplishing anything and I love a good challenge.
I'm Ben. I am originally from East TN and now live in Kansas City with my wife and our two dogs. Before my career in tech, I was an electric bass player that studied jazz and jazz fusion. I love reading fantasy and science fiction novels and playing board games with friends in my free time.
Hi, I'm Ben... and I understand there are a few other Ben's in the org, so feel free to call me "Klinker."
I'm from the midwest and currently live in Cincinnati, OH with my wife and 4 kids (currently 11, 9, 6, and 3... but it's crazy how they keep getting older ). I went to Purdue and graduated with a degree in Multidisciplinary Engineering, which is basically the "choose your own adventure" book of engineering degrees (if you want to see me dig a giant hole, skip to paragraph 2). I worked in management consulting for Accenture in Chicago for a few years and then moved to Cincinnati for a CAD software company, and I've been in tech ever since. My career in real estate tech started in 2014 when I joined dotloop. Then we were acquired by Zillow Group where I stayed for 5 more years until joining Pacaso in late 2020 to build out the sales systems and processes.
Freetime is admittedly limited (read "4 kids"), but I love tinkering around the house or building new things that will keep the kids outside and entertained. A few years ago, I built a storage shed that doubles as a playhouse with a slide, and then when the pandemic hit I channeled my couped-up energy into digging a giant hole (14' square... 4' deep) and added an in-ground trampoline. My plan this summer is a zipline .
I'm thrilled to join the Welcome team to help scale the revenue operations... and to respond to as many Slack messages with a GIF as possible.
Hi, I'm Frances. I'm a developer in the Bay Area. I've been a product designer, an English teacher in France, a barista, and even dabbled in freelance real estate photography. Right before the pandemic started I went to Tokyo to do a coding bootcamp and ended up enjoying it enough to make software engineering my full time career. My hobbies include coffee, baking, traveling, drawing, learning foreign languages, and photography. My phone is basically 100% photos of our Shiba Inu Mochi.
